Making the Fens sustainable and resilient!
Menu

The proposed Fenland Ecological Network has been based on the recommendations in 'The Natural Choice:securing the value of nature', Government White Paper which in turn have been based on the Lawton Report. A coherent and resilient network requires five elements. The image below illustrates the elements with an additional one; 'Stepping Stones' that the FFTF proposal includes.

The Lawton Report emphasises the need to undertake careful planning and to maximise the contribution that existing network components can provide, thereby using precious resources in the most efficient way.

We are working to identify a network of corridors, stepping stones and Buffer zones that link the main habitat sites across the whole fen landscape which will support the sustainability of the remaining Fen areas and diversity of wildlife. This work includes a connectivity report and undertaking ditch surveys.
